Sunday Education

At 9:00 am, our Sunday School begins with our all-ages Gathering Time in the Parish Hall for 15 minutes of prayer, song, and announcements, with breakfast fare on hand. This year, our gathering theme will be Characters of Character, each week featuring a Bible or historical character. Each week will be a surprise: ... Noah ... St. Augustine ... C.S. Lewis ... ? At 9:15-10:15 am we go to our separate classes.

LIVING FAITH: Exploring the essentials of Christianity

Taught by Fr. Houk and Fr. Corley in the Parish Hall

Like last year, this "Inquirer's Class" is both the required course for those preparing for Confirmation, as well as a class for anyone who wants to explore their faith more deeply. The goal of the class is more than conveying "What Episcopalians Believe." Rather, Fr. Houk will offer a comprehensive look at Christian belief and practice, since Christian living and Christian faith are meant to go hand in hand. Therefore, Scripture, doctrine, Church history, sacraments, prayer, and spiritual disciplines will all be addressed.
Contact Fr. Houk if you have any questions about the course or about Confirmation.

Contact the Parish Office to register for the class: 214.321.6451.

BibleWomen's Bible Study

Taught by Lea France in the Parish Hall Classroom

The Women's Bible Study resumes in January! During the season of Epiphany, this group will look at four of the minor prophets: Hosea, Amos, Jonah and Micah. For the Lent and Easter seasons, they will work through the book of Isaiah. The prophets teach us more about the nature of God, His holiness, justice, righteousness and mercy which can help us in our relationship with God today, giving us comfort and assurance that God is in control. Join the women of the parish as they continue their journey through the Bible.

Sunday Mornings in Paul's Letter to the Galatians

Taught by Malcolm Scott in the Parish Hall Library

What is the true heart of the gospel message? How do faith and good works contrast with and complement each other in the Christian's life? What are the roles of God's grace and God's Law in the life of a Christian believer? What is the nature of the ministry of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian, and the nature of the Christian's freedom in Christ? These and other important issues and themes are discussed in the Apostle Paul's short but packed Letter to the Galatians, which he wrote with white-hot urgency, concern and even anger to deal with some very thorny problems that were plaguing the young churches that he had been instrumental in planting in Galatia, modern day central Turkey. Please join us on Sunday mornings as we study this important, foundational and spiritually rich book of the New Testament, which is widely regarded as a shorter version of Paul's magnum opus, his theological masterpiece, the Letter to the Romans. A full study guide will be provided.

Children and Youth Sunday Classes

GODLY PLAY

Godly Play is an approach to Christian formation that enables children to experience the presence of a loving God and discover how to speak the language of their biblical faith. The goal is to teach children the art of using religious language; parable, sacred story, silence, and liturgical action to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God's presence around them and in their lives.
