Sunday Education this Fall

At 9:00 am, our Sunday School begins with our all-ages Gathering Time in the Parish Hall for 15 minutes of prayer, song, and announcements, with breakfast fare on hand. This year, our gathering theme will be Characters of Character, each week featuring a Bible or historical character. Each week will be a surprise: ... Noah ... St. Augustine ... C.S. Lewis ... ?
At 9:15-10:15 am we go to our separate classes. Adult classes meet in the Parish Hall area and children/youth classes in the Undercroft (the basement of the church). This fall we offer two classes for adults.
Bible Basics and Beyond: Understanding Scripture, then and now
Taught by the Rector, Fr. Corley and Will Nielsen in the Parish Hall

The Bible is a big book, an old book, an other-worldly book. It's one book, yet a collection of many books, each with its own style and purpose. Because of such complexities, some folks don't know where to begin when it comes to reading and studying the Bible, much less how to apply it in day-to-day living. This comprehensive and practical course will give you the knowledge, background, and resources you need to read and make sense of all the different sections of Scripture, to know how to interpret and apply its timeless truth, and to hear God speaking today through his Word.
The Challenge of Jesus

Led by Malcolm Scott in the Parish Hall Library
Join Malcolm Scott as he delves into N.T. Wright's book, The Challenge of Jesus: Rediscovering Who He Was and Is. It is a very rich book on Christ, his vision , and his messianic mission. Tom Wright is a favorite of many and might be considered a must-read for individuals looking for greater meaning in their walk with the Lord. Each week, the group will read a chapter, and on Sunday, work their way through the text with analysis and discussion.
Women's Bible Study
The Women's Bible Study will merge with the Bible Basics and Beyond class this fall. They will resume their class and embark on the book of Isaiah beginning in January.
Children and Youth Classes
Sunday School classes will be held in the undercroft (the basement of the church).
Children age three through third grade participate in Godly Play, which is an approach to Christian formation that enables children to experience the presence of a loving God and discover how to speak the language of their biblical faith.
Grades four through twelve will continue a comprehensive overview of the Bible. This fall, they will have an extended study of the book of Genesis: from creation through the stories of Abraham, Sarah and Isaac. Late fall and early winter, they will concentrate on the Old Testament prophecy and the birth of Christ.
