St. John’s annual Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras bash brings together the best of Episcopal and Catholic sensibilities: the Anglican tradition of a pancake supper on the eve of Ash Wednesday, combined with the spice or Mardi Gras gumbo, the best you will find west of New Orleans. There are refreshments, beads, masks and crafts for the kids, along with the fierce competition of the young people’s Pancake Races.
